Itinerary

The island was brought under settlement during 1969 and now it is declared as a unique eco-touristic spot for its ideal natural setup and rich biodiversification factors and the perennial mangrove forest with wild animals like spotted deer, wild boar and rhesus macaque and for the ideal habitat for fish resources. Since south coast is open to the mouth of great span of Bay of Bengal, appearance of whales can be found sometimes. The most common type of tree species on the mangrove forest in this island is Keora, also known as Kerfa, which has fast growing roots holding the sandy land.
The beaches and sightings of crabs, sea snails and oysters create great excitement amongst tourists, as they are able to appreciate nature against the backdrop of the lush, green landscapes. Viewing a sunset or sunrise from the shores of this tranquil and inspiring natural paradise is unforgettable.
There are more than eight thousand inhabitants found their permanent settlement in the island and their occupations are mainly cultivation, fishing and livestock farming. The island produces vegetables in large quantities. People live here together amidst natural calamities. Life in the island is hard and risky but very plain in mind.
